Of all the books I have read, " Palace of Illusions" by Chitra Banerjee continues to be so close to my heart. As it traces the journey of Mahabharat from Draupadi's perspective, it reflects the complex thoughts, wishes, emotions, hopes, vengeance, frustrations, manipulations that were part of the legendary story. Every time I read the book, it kept compelling me to connect with Draupadi's soul! I am sure every women would be able to relate to at least a part of her journey!
Shades of life were always changing...
Even while she tried to add the colours to her canvas...
Scores of people scripted her course of life...
She walked the ways the paths took her along...
Through masks that came with ease...
She learnt to shield her wishes and thoughts...
While her smiles brightened the world around...
The darkened alleys of her heart were shrouded in loneliness...
Everything around was happening by design...
But her eyes kept longing for a heart to share...
Words of wisdom kept coming from Krishna...
Her silence was filled with his beautiful music...
Words of wisdom kept coming from Krishna...
Her silence was filled with his beautiful music...
Clouds of disillusionment crowded her tales...
But she constantly pursued her quest for happiness...
She probably had oceans hidden inside her heart...
Yet she kept looking for drops to fill her soul...!
